TAMACC and Google Partnership

Thank you, TAMACC and Google, for partnering with us for this great event! On November 17, we hosted sessions with Grow with Google trainer Vicky Sepúlveda, who offered free tools to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. This was an excellent opportunity for our community to learn new skills and attract new customers! Special thanks to our board of directors, Mayor Al Arreola, and BFCU for hosting us! We’re looking forward to preparing more sessions for next year.

2023 Fiesta De Amistad

In October, our city celebrates Fiesta De Amistad in Del Rio! This celebration commemorates the signing of the treaty to build the Amistad Dam, marking the historic meeting of U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Mexico’s President Adolfo Lopez Mateos in Ciudad Acuña on October 24, 1960. This year, we honor the 63rd anniversary of the treaty signing. We remember past presidents who visited: in 1960, President Eisenhower signed the treaty; in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson reviewed its progress; and in 1969, President Richard Nixon officially opened the Amistad Dam. The International Good Neighbor Council commemorates this with the traditional “Abrazo” on Amistad Dam, with national flags shining under the sun. Congratulations to our cherished members, Mary Mota, DRHCC’s Director of Cultural Issues, and Polo Del Rio from Ramada by Wyndham, for being elected Mrs. and Mr. Amistad! Special thanks to our Secretary and former Mayor, Dora Alcala, chair of the Abrazo event, for organizing this beautiful event.

2023 DRHCC Annual Member Meeting & Officer Elections

On Monday, October 30, we hosted our Annual Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Members Meeting and 2023 Officer Elections at the Ramada Del Rio Ballroom. This important event featured an officer installation ceremony, a meaningful tradition for both the new officers and members. Judge Hilda Lopez officiated the ceremony, welcoming newly elected officers: Mr. Joe John Cruz as Vice-President, Mr. Jorge Ramon as Director of International Trade, Ms. Maricela Saenz as Treasurer, Mrs. Rose Soto as Director of Public Relations, Ms. Paola Ibarra as Director of Membership, Mr. Javier Martinez as Director of Health Issues, Ms. Gabi Mendez of Body Factory Del Rio as Director of Economic Development, and Mr. Sergio Rodriguez of Rodriguez Wealth Management as Director of Cultural Issues. We also presented a plaque to our new member, the Del Rio Board of Realtors. A special thank you to Consul Randy Castillo and the staff from the Guatemalan Consulate in Del Rio for joining us and strengthening our community bonds. Thank you to all the members and friends who attended this significant event.

Administrative Professional’s Day 12/16/2023

It was a fantastic day with a full house, honoring our administrative professionals! Awards were given in recognition of their hard work, and this year’s Administrative Professional of the Year went to Tanya Serrano, Regional Recruiter and Administrative Assistant at Money Concepts. We also welcomed one of our newest members, Hotel La Quinta Hawthorn Del Río, and proudly presented them with a plaque. These events allow our members to connect, collaborate, and foster valuable relationships. We advocate on behalf of local businesses and engage with policymakers and leaders to ensure positive economic impact in the community. Marketing and promotion are also key roles we play, utilizing community events, social media, and monthly newsletters to help our members. Shopping local helps our economy by creating job opportunities, supporting families, and fostering a true sense of community. The Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (DRHCC) plays a vital role in supporting and promoting local businesses. One of our most significant roles is providing networking opportunities, especially through our breakfast networks, which allow our members to connect, collaborate, and build meaningful relationships.

DRHCC also advocates for local businesses by representing their interests and concerns. Our Board of Directors regularly engages with policymakers, government officials, and other leaders to support regulations and policies that benefit our local economy.

In addition, DRHCC actively markets and promotes our members. We participate in community events, festivals, and social media campaigns, as well as feature businesses on the DRHCC website and in our monthly newsletters. We’re here to help our members with any promotional needs.

Fostering collaboration among businesses and other organizations is another essential role we play. By connecting businesses with valuable resources, we promote growth and innovation across Del Rio. We serve as a one-stop guide to support local businesses’ success and growth.

Every May, Small Business Month recognizes the dedication, courage, and hard work of local businesses, thanks to the Small Business Administration (SBA). According to a 2020 SBA study, the U.S. is home to 31.7 million small businesses, which form the backbone of the nation’s economy.
